"A set of values used to represent different quantities is known as Number System". For example, a number system can be used to represent the number of students in a class or number of viewers watching a certain TV program etc. The digital computer represents all kinds of data and information in binary numbers. It includes audio, graphics, video, text and numbers. The total number of digits used in a number system is called its base or radix. The base is written after the number as subscript such as 51210.

Some important number systems are as follows.
Decimal number system
Binary number system
Octal number system
Hexadecimal number system

In this segment, candidates have to deal with the questions based on Blood Relation. Questions based on Blood-Relation can be of many types but in all the types of question candidates have to relate all the given relation one by one.
Relation on the mother side is called ‘maternal’ and that on the father side is called ‘paternal’ and if the relation is on the spouse side (Husband or wife) is called ‘in-law’.

In INPUT OUTPUT type of problems, candidates are required to check out the pattern given in the arrangement of the question and then find out the desired output step, according to what  the question asked.
In order to solve these questions, one has to think that there is some kind of machine or computer which gives output according to what it receives as the input. This machine works on a predetermined pattern and will give output at different steps.
Always check the last step of the arrangement you get an idea that what logic are used in the arrangement.

Introduction
Data sufficiency has recently become a favorite question for many of the recent examinations. In this type of questions, usually a question is given followed by two or three statements. These two or three statements contain data or some pieces of information using which the question can possibly be solved. You are required to judge whether the data given is sufficient to answer the question or not.
fORMAT OF sTUDY

Permutation: The different arrangements of a given number or things by taking some or all at a time , are called Permutations.
All permutations (or arrangements) made with the letters of a, b, c by taking two at a time are ( ab, ba, ac, ca, bc, cb )
All permutations made with the letters a, b, c, taking all at a time are: ( abc, acb, bac, bca, cab, cba ).

Number of Permutations: Number of all permutations of n things, taken r at a time, is given by:
n p r = n ( n – 1 ) ( n – 2 )……(n – r + 1 ) = n! / ( n – r ) !
Ex.6 p 2
= ( 6 x 5 ) = 30 .
Ex.7 p 3
= ( 7 x 6 x 5 ) = 210 ;
Note: Number of all permutation that is n things, we can take all at a time = n!

Experiment:
The actions of that Appear some well-defined outcomes is called an Experiment.

Random Experiment:
An Random experiment is an experiment in which all probable outcomes are known and we cannot predicted the accurate in advances that is called Random Experiment.

Here is some example for your better perceive about Random experiment.
When we throw a coin on the air, The coin either a Head (H) or a Tail (T)appears.
When we throw a dice is a solid cube, having 6 faces, marked 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 gradually. In that case when we throw a dice the outcome is the number that appears on its upper face of the dice

Sample Space:
Sample Space is an set S of all possible outcomes in a particular actions.

There are train based problem based on two object, First is Train and second object is that which is crossed by the train.

Some important Facts
  • If a train moving or cross a pole or man than the first object is train and the second object is pole or man.
  • If the train moving or cross the platform than the first object is train and second object is platform which is train cross.
  • If a train cross or moving a man who is standing on platform than the train is first object and the second object is man.
  • When a train crossing or moving another train in the same direction or opposite direction than the first object is first train and second object is second train.

Alligation: This is the rule that enables us to find the ratio in which two or more ingredients at the given price must be mixed to produce a mixture of a desired price. Mean Price: The cost Price of a unit quantity of the mixture is called the mean price.
 Rule of Alligation:

If Two ingredients are mixed in a ratio , then
Quantity of cheaper/Quantity of dealer =C.P dealer-Mean price/Mean price-C.P Cheaper

What is Variables?
An element, a feature, or a factor that is liable to vary or change to find any equation and represent by x, y, z etc.
Example: 3x + 27y = 40 is variable
Example: 2y + 5x = 12 is variable.

What is Constant?
A constant is special number or a real number usually or whose value is fixed in the context of use is called a constant.
Example: 5x – 3y + 2z = 24 here is 5, 3, 2, 24 are constant value.
Example: 4y + 7y – 9z = 53 here is 4, 7, 9, 53 are constant value.

Basic Formula of speed and distance
Distance = Speed x Time
Speed = Distance / Time
Time = Distance / Speed
1 km. /hour =5/18 m. /sec
1 m. /sec = 18/5 km. /hour

Arjun goes to his college from his house at a speed of 3 Km / hr and return at speed of 2 km / hr. If he takes 5 hours in going and coming, the distance between his house and college is-

Average speed = (2*3*2/2+3) km / hr =12/5 km / hr.
Distance between his house and college he travelled : (12/5x 5 ) km = 12 km .

How many minutes does Seema take to cover a distance of 600 m, if she runs at speed of 40 km / hr ?

Seema speed = 40 km / hr,.
(40 x5/18) = 100/9 m / sec     (after converting it into m / sec)
So, Seema Time taken to cover 600 m = (600 x9/100) sec = 54 sec.

Important Facts and Formula
The speed of water or stream that denoted by v km/hr.
Speed of boat or boatman in calm water which we denoted by u km/hr.
Speed downstream = (u + v) km / hr
Speed upstream = (u – v) km / hr.
In water, the direction along with stream   is called Downstream.
The direction of boat against the stream is called Upstream.

If the speed downstream is x km / hr and the speed upstream is y km / hr, then
Speed in still water = 1 / 2 ( x + y ) km / hr
Rate of Stream = 1 / 2 ( x – y ) km / hr .

What is Ratio?

A ratio is a relationship between two numbers by division of the same kind. The ration of a to b is written as a : b = a / b In ratio a : b , we can say that a as the first term or antecedent and b, the second term or consequent.

What is Proportion?

The idea of proportions is that two ratio are equal.
If a: b = c: d, we write a: b: : c: d,

 3 / 15 = 1 / 5
a and d called extremes, where as b and c called mean terms

What is Interest?
When borrowed some money from other for the personal or commercial purpose we pay some additional money to him after a certain period of time is called Interest.

What is Simple Interest?
Simple interest is calculated only on the principal amount, or on that portion of the principal amount that remains.

What is Compound Interest?
Compound interest is interest added to the principal of a deposit or loan so that the added interest also earns interest from then on. This addition of interest to the principal is called compounding.

The ratio of present age of A & B is 2: 3 the present age of A is 30 years. Find the age of B after 5 years?
Step 1:  A: B present age ratio is 2: 3 and A = 30 years.
Step 2: B present age is 30 *3/ 2 = 45 years.
Step 3: B age after 5 years is 45 + 5 = 50 years.

Vineet is as younger to Garima as she is older to Devyani .If the sum of the ages of Garima & Devyani is 58 years. What is Vineet age?
nswer:
Step 1: G – V = V – D
Step 2: G + D = 2V
Step 3:  58 = 2V
Step 4: V = 29 years

What is work?
Work is the quantity of energy transferred from one system to another but for question based on this topic; Work is defined as the amount of job assigned or the amount of job actually done.

Some Important Formula
Time taken single piece of work, If A Person do a piece of work or job in n days, then person’s finish the work in n days = 1 / n.
A person does a piece of work in 1 day = 1 / n, then person can finish the work in n days.
If A person twice work a workman as B person, then Ratio of work done by A and B is = 2 : 1.
The reciprocal of day work gives the alone time i.e., alone time ( or time to complete a job  by a single person) =  1 / 1 day’s work
When more than one person working on the same type of work, then there combined work = sum of 1 day work by each person. Suppose P, Q, R work same piece of work by each person (P + Q + R)”s 1 day’s work = P’s day’s work + Q ’s day’s work + R’s day’s work.

What is Partnership?
Persons Two or more than two persons when start and run the new business jointly of their  own choice , the persons start  they are called Partners and the deal is done between the partners is known as Partnership.

Ratio of Division of Gains
The amount investment of all the partners are for the same time period, the gain or loss amount is distributed among the partners in the ratio of their investments amounts.

C P(Cost Price):

The Price at which an article is purchased, is called its cost price or In short called  C.P. or Cost price is amount of money goes out from us when purchase any article.

SP (Selling Price):

The price at which an article is sold, called its selling price or In short called SP.
Selling Price is a amount of money came in when selling by anything.

 Profit or Gain:
If S.P. is greater than C.P, then seller is said to have a profit or gain.

(S.P) – (C.P)

What is Average?

The result obtained by adding several quantities together and then dividing this total by the number of quantities is called Average

Average: =Sum of observation/Number of observation

Average Speed= if someone covers a certain distance at X Kmph and an equal distance at Y Kmph. Then,
the average speed during the whole journey is =2XY/X+Y Kmph.

What is percentage?

Percentage is a fraction or a numerical expression or a ration with 100 assumed as denominator. So we can represent 1 percentage as 1%.
Points to be remember-

1 = 100%
1/2 = 50%
1/3 = 33%
1/4 = 25%
1/5 = 20%
1/6 = 16%

Directions  Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions given
below it.
A long time ago, on a big tree in the lap of the mountain, lived a bird named Sindhuka. It was a rather
special bird because its droppings turned into gold as soon as they hit the ground.
One day, a hunter came to the tree in search of prey and he saw Sindhuka's droppings hit the ground
and turn into gold. The hunter was struck with wonder. He though, "I have been hunting birds and
small animals since I was a boy, but in all my 80 years, I have never seen such a miraculous creature.
He decided that he had to catch the bird somehow. He climbed the tree and skillfully set a trap for the
bird.
The bird, quite unaware of the danger it was in, stayed on the tree and sang merrily. But it was soon
caught in the hunter's trap. The hunter immediately seized it and shoved it into a cage.
The hunter took the bird home joyfully. But as he had time to think over his good fortune later, he
suddenly realised, "If the king comes to know of this wonder, he will certainly take away the bird
from me and he might even punish me for keeping such a rare treasure all to myself. So it would be
safer and more honourable if I were to go to the king and present the unique bird to him," The next
day, the hunter took the bird to the king and presented it to him in court with great reverence. The
king was delighted t o receive such an unusual and rare gift. He told his courtiers to keep the bird safe
and feed it with the best bird food available.
